Rita Liu

aka 柳璇 in Mandarin, is a Taiwanese movement creator, story listener, and artist facilitator.

She enjoys making playful, generous , and random theatrical experiences that play with the juxtaposition between non-dance movements and real-life texts. Her recent work if you could see me was part of the 2022/23 Performance Project Fellowship. Rita also believes that everyone’s story is worth being seen and heard, thus she is dedicated to combining performing arts with various disciplines through creative workshops and community engagement.

Rita is a teaching artist at Waterwell Drama Program, Ping Chong and Company, Community-Word Project, and Queens Theatre. As a workshop facilitator, Rita is interested in exploring the connection between outer-space and inner-self. Her workshops often invite participants to play with movements, texts, drawings, objects, and through which build a deeper connection between self-awareness and daily lives.

Rita holds a Master's degree in Educational Theatre from NYU, and her Mandarin online workshop is still ongoing. Past workshop themes include The Un-recover Relationships, Sound Missions, Creating Your Inner-monster. For more information, please see @letters_fromlife
